The Black Friday deals are here

– and smartwatches have fast become one of the most popular items to scoop up during the annual sales event.

While Black Friday deals traditionally meant stampedes for a brand new TV or smartphone, wearable technology has quickly become another product to see prices slashed

– with top brands such as Garmin, Apple, Samsung and Fitbit joining in with the discounts.

Amazon, Currys, Very, AO, Argos and John Lewis started their deals early, but with the big day finally here prices have been cut even further, and we’ve scoured the internet to find top smartwatches at their lowest prices.

Highlights on smartwatches we’ve tested so far include £70 off the Huawei Watch 3 Active smartwatch from Argos, £65 off the Huawei Watch Fit Elegant also from Huawei and a bargain bundle that includes the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 + Buds2 earphones for only £249.

The Fitbit Charge 5 is now at its lowest ever price, down to £139.99 at Amazon, while the Fitbit Versa 2 is now into double digits and under £100. If you’re getting your models in a muddle then see our guide on which Fitbit deal to buy this Black Friday, which will help distinguish the Versa from the Charge.

As with the smartphone scene, it is the Apple Watch that will likely be the most sought-after smartwatch this Black Friday, especially with the release of the Apple Watch Series 7

so we have a dedicated page for the best Apple Watch Black Friday deals.

However, Apple is facing stiff competition from the likes of Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei, while Fitbit and Garmin offer a specialised experience for fitness fanatics.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and unsure which piece of wearable tech is for you, then we have tested a whole range of smartwatches, from premium to budget, and even compared some of the top brands in a head-to-head.

Once you’ve found the smartwatch that is right for you, you’ll have to make sure it is compatible with your mobile – so you may want to see our reviews of the best smartphones too. Now would also be a great time to bag a new handset also, and of course we’ll be keeping an eye on the Black Friday iPhone deals and Black Friday phone deals.

Where to get Black Friday smartwatch deals

Almost every major retailer is taking part in Black Friday and Cyber Monday this year – offering smartwatch discounts in-store and online both during and in the run-up to the sale events. Here are the best retailers for wearable deals:

Amazon: It will be no surprise, but Amazon is a major destination for all Black Friday smartwatch deals, including big brands including Apple, Samsung and Fitbit. Consider using the 30-day free Prime trial.

Currys: A reliable retailer for all types of tech goodies, Currys is known for aggressively price-matching with other retailers in the UK, including both Amazon and John Lewis. Perfect if other websites run out of stock.

John Lewis: Similarly, John Lewis has a very similar selection of smartwatch discounts to the other stores. Known for its stellar customer service, this website will be another top site if stock is hard to locate.

Samsung: Shop its range of smartwatches or register to keep updated with their deals and offers.

That’s not all: Don’t miss the smartwatch deals on Very, AO and Argos.

Like previous years, Black Friday 2021 is a good time to get discounts on premium smartwatches – as retailers often cut the cost of hot new releases alongside the (often much steeper) price slash on the prior models.

That means that while there are some price cuts on the latest Apple Watch Series 7, but we’re seeing better discounts on the Galaxy Watch 3 and the Watch SE, Apple Watch 6 and Apple Watch 3, and, of course, the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.

Last year, the popular Apple Watch Series 5 was down from £529 to £399, while the Samsung Galaxy Watch also fell from £279.99 to £159.00.

As new versions from Apple and Samsung are now out, these (still great) smartwatches have come down in price even more for Black Friday 2021.

In fact, the newer Apple Watch Series 6 (44mm) is currently priced at £309 on Amazon, while Currys are offering a very solid £50 off the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.

But it’s not just limited to Apple and Samsung, with other watch-makers such as Huawei, Honor, Garmin, Fossil, Fitbit and Ticwatch all getting in on the action.

We have reviewed a lot of smartwatches, so if you want to research, check these:

How to get a good Black Friday smartwatch deal

With so many discounts, it’s easy to become overwhelmed when hunting for the best deal – so here are some tips on how to make sure you get the best offers:

Know what brands you like: It’s always advised to have done your homework when looking for a brand new smartwatch. Apple or Samsung? What’s the budget? Considering these basics will quickly narrow down your results.

Read the reviews: The next step of that homework will be to read reviews of potential purchases – shopping blind will end up being confusing. If you need some help, why not start with our guides to the best smartwatch of the year and best budget smartwatch. We also have guides to the best smartphone, best Android phone, best tablets and a handy best TV to buy explainer.

Watch Amazon, but also watch its pricing: Amazon will typically undercut the pricing on most rival retailers – but make sure you double-check the history of an item using the CamelCamelCamel tracking tool, which will tell you its lowest-ever price – so you can be certain the discount is legitimate.

Shop around: It’s easy to stick to Amazon, but it doesn’t mean others do not have great offers. Look around, compare pricing and remember that one retailer may still have smartwatch stock if another sells out completely.

Check social media and newsletters: Keep a close eye on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as some stores may promote or tease their sales ahead of the launch. Also, consider signing up for tech newsletters (including ours!).
