How to Troubleshoot the "Unable to Contact your DHCP Server ...

How to fix the “Cannot communicate with the DHCP server” error

Update or reinstall the network drivers

Follow these steps to update your network drivers:

Press the Windows + X key and select “Device Manager.”Select a category to see the device names, then right-click the device you want to update.Select the Update Driver.Click Verify driver software update automatically.When the update is complete, you are ready to go.

To reinstall the network drivers, do the following:

Press the Windows + X key and select Device Manager.Find your network device, right-click it, and select Uninstall Device.Check the Uninstall driver software for this device option.Select Uninstall.Click the Check Hardware Changes icon.Windows will now try to install the default driver.

If Windows does not find the new driver, you can try looking for it on the device manufacturer’s website.

Downloading drivers manually may result in installing the wrong driver, which can lead to serious malfunctions.

Enable or disable DHCP

To disable DHCP, follow these steps:

Press the Windows + X key and select “Network Connections.”Double-click the active network connection.Select Properties.Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 or Internet Protocol Version 6.Select Properties.Click the Use the following IP address button.Enter the values for your IP address, subnet mask, etc.

Be careful if you disable DHCP and switch to a static IP configuration. If you enter the wrong settings, your Internet connection may not work.

To enable DHCP, follow these steps:

Press the Windows + X key and select “Network Connections.”Double-click the active network connection.Select Properties.Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 or Internet Protocol Version 6.Select Properties.Click both Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.Click OK.After re-enabling DHCP, be sure to restart the computer to apply the changes.

Register your DNS

Type cmd in the Start menu.Open the command prompt.Type ipconfig /registerdns.Type exit at the command prompt.Reboot the computer.
